If you see a vehicle that appears to be abandoned and has been left on a State Highway for a period of time, it needs to be reported directly to NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).
Vehicles that have just broken down or stopped briefly are not considered abandoned.
Who is responsible?
✅ Central Otago District Council (CODC) is responsible for abandoned vehicles located on State Highways in urban areas where the speed limit is under 70 km/h.
